FPCC win away at Chilmark
Ewen Moore reports: Today's delightfully sunny afternoon was capped off with a comprehensive FPCC win over Chilmark.
After the hosts won the toss and elected to bat, we kept them to a miserly 139 for 8 from their 35 overs with Dan Brickell, Malick Kudmany, Ashley Major, Ed Hobbs and John Arundell all in the wickets, set up by a fiery opening spell from Jonny Belk, who has definitely proved to be one of our best bowlers despite still waiting for his first FPCC wicket...one can only assume that the floodgates will soon open!
The run chase was ruthless and clinical and never really in doubt, with some enjoyable blows from Ferdie (47) and Ed Spicer and a very composed and stylish innings from Finn Edwards. Which left Dan and I to see us home in less than 22 overs.
The teas and hospitality weretop class, as always, although no nipple cake this year. It was also wonderful to have so many Fonthill supporters down there - thanks for coming and supporting and to those who chipped in with scoring and umpiring, thank you, thank you. What a great season it is shaping up to be, and it is about to get even better.
The day was followed by Daffodil Monday when Bexi Harris, Leigh Godfrey, John Reed, John Grinstead and Sam Peters joined Mark Mikurenda to do the annual job of cutting and raking up a huge pile of daffodil cuttings on the top boundary.
