Even Stevens v Waldron
FPCC beat Waldron by 20 runs in the 20-20 on Friday 10 May.
FPCC 140/6 (20 overs)- Comyn 38*, Moore 24, Brickell 21.
Waldron 120/7 (20 overs)- Hobbs 3-26, Moore 3-5.
A cracking game at the park this evening. All 3 results possible until deep into the match and an excellent finish in the field tipped the game in our favour.
After being put into bat, we had a lots of contributions throughout, held together by Henry Comyn’s excellent 38* with a lot of hard running, which elevated us to 140: a competitive total.
Waldron were a decent batting side and two of the Soucek brothers built a steady partnership and looked well set at 58/1 after 9 overs. Then a moment of brilliance in the field when John Arundell collected the ball at point and a brilliant direct-hit run-out to break the partnership. We then managed to chip away at their middle order as the run rate grew and the light faded.
A brilliant win in a tight game against a very decent team. Thanks to everyone who played, to Eric and Bexi for scoring, Tim for running the bar, all the supporters, and for Mark for preparing 3 wickets in 3 days!
In Saturday's game, Waldron came out on top. FPCC scored 130 with Peter Catarinella top-scoring with a swashbuckling 30 late in the innings. Waldron reached their target with 7 wickets down in the 33rd over, despite a fantastic spell of bowling from Ed Hobbs in which he grabbed 4 wickets for 2 runs, ably supported by Peter.
